Description
No. 30 Shrewsbury Road is a house, now divided into flats, built around 1860. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a concrete tiled roof. The building was designed as part of a symmetrical pair and features two storeys and two bays. To the right, there is a recessed full-height entrance block with an advanced pedimented gable. The entrance includes a four-panelled door with an overlight set in a segmental arch with voussoirs.
A staircase has been added against the return wall to provide access to the upper flats. The ground floor of the gable has a canted bay with a casement window and a parapet with balustrading, while above it is a four-pane sash window. To the left, there is a tripartite window with a four-pane sash above, separated by a paired string course. The building has axial and end wall stacks.
In 1902, the interior was re-modelled by C.F.A. Voysey, which included changes to the chimney pieces, joinery, and built-in furniture.
