Description

Nos. 12 to 20 Lodge Lane, also known as Nos. 1 to 5 Knox Close, is a terrace of 10 flats built in 1898 by Grayson and Ould. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof with a tile ridge. It stands two storeys high and consists of eight bays, with the first two bays recessed and the remaining bays forming a symmetrical arrangement beneath the hipped roof. The end bays project forward and are topped with pedimented gables.

The ground floor is distinguished by a sill course and a stone cornice, while the top features a modillioned cornice with a central round pediment that includes a dated shield. The windows are adorned with gauged-brick flat arches and leaded casements. The fourth and fifth bays contain three-light windows with transoms and a central arch in the glazing. The third and sixth bays have cross casements with a small light to the side, the first bay has a single light, and the second bay has a later three-light window. The first floor showcases a variety of leaded casements in configurations of 2:3:4:4:1:1:4:4 lights. The pediments are topped with keyed round windows.

Entrances feature four-panel doors with overlights. The building has two cross-axial stacks and one stack located at the rear. The rear facade includes entrances to Knox Close, although the ground floor has undergone 20th-century alterations.
