Description

This building, known as Nos. 1 to 7 Lower Road, consists of four houses built in 1901 by the architects Grayson and Ould. The houses feature a roughcast exterior on a brick base and have a tiled roof. They are designed as one storey with an attic and consist of four bays. The first bay is recessed and has a lateral stack. There is a decorative band over the ground floor. The windows are leaded casements, with the ground floor showcasing a two-storey canted bay window with five lights in the second and fourth bays. The third bay has a four-light rectangular bay window, with the roof extending over it to create canopies for the entrances on either side. The first bay contains a three-light window. On the first floor, there is a gabled dormer in the first bay and a four-light gabled roof dormer in the third bay. The entrances feature plank doors and leaded lights. The building has two cross-axial stacks and one gable-end stack. The left side has a half-canted oriel adjoining Nos. 37-45 Primrose Hill. The rear of the building is similar, also featuring gabled dormers.
