Description
The pond and fountain located to the south of the Lady Lever Art Gallery were likely created around 1913, with the fountain itself designed in 1946 by Sir Charles Wheeler. The structure is made of stone and features a low wall surrounding a shallow pond. The front of the pond curves outward before sweeping back in to a higher wall at the rear, which serves as a seat facing south. At the center of the pond is a bronze fountain mounted on a round base, depicting a man and a boy with flipper feet riding a heraldic sea horse, flanked by dolphins.
