Description

This building, known as Nos. 69 to 75 Pool Bank, is a terrace of eight flats constructed in 1899 by Grayson and Ould. It is made of brick with a slate roof and tile ridge, standing two stories high with six bays. The central two bays project under a hipped roof, and the end bay features a projecting lateral stack with diagonal flues.

The ground floor has a sill band and cornice, with a top cornice as well. The windows are adorned with gauged-brick flat arches and leaded casements. The central bays include canted bay windows with five lights, which have a transom and a central round-headed feature on the ground floor. The first bay window is similar, while the windows in the second and fifth bays are likely 20th-century replacements with three lights. On the first floor, there is a two-light window in the first bay and three-light windows in the second and fifth bays.

The entrances to the returns have four-panel doors with overlights. There is a cross-axial stack and another stack at the rear. The returns are topped with pediments featuring bulls eyes. The rear of the building has 20th-century ground floor alterations and entrances leading to Knox Close.
