Description

This is a terrace of six houses located at 200 to 210 New Chester Road, built in 1899 by H.A. Matear. The houses are constructed of brick and feature a tile gambrel roof. They are two storeys high and consist of six bays, with the first bay projecting under a shaped gable. The windows are sash style with upper glazing bars. The ground floor windows have gauged-brick cambered arches with triple sashes, while the first bay includes a rectangular bay window with a lean-to roof that extends as a canopy over the entrance. On the first floor, there is a four-sash window in the first bay. The second to fourth bays have four-light canted flat-topped dormers on rectangular bases, with casements that include upper small panes. The fifth and sixth bays have windows similar to those on the ground floor. The entrances feature half-glazed plank doors with small-paned lights; the doors for the second and third bays are set in recesses, while those for the fourth, fifth, and sixth bays have flat canopies, with the canopy for the fourth bay supported by a post at the angle. There are three cross-axial stacks. The rear of the houses is similar to the front, with end gables and privies.
