Description
This is a terrace of four houses located at 17-23 Wood Street, built in 1894 by Douglas and Fordham. The houses are constructed of brick with granite chip rendering on the first floor, featuring plaster gables and a hipped tile roof. The building is two storeys high with four gabled bays. The first floor juts out over the ground floor, supported by a decorated bressumer and timber Doric columns with dosserets. There are brick quoins between the first-floor bays.
The windows consist of small-paned casements, with five-light canted bay windows on the ground floor. The first floor features a four-light canted oriel window and two single light windows in the center. The gables are adorned with roundels and strapwork pargetting that includes figures. The entrances have decorated lintels and doors with vertical strips, strap hinges, and three leaded lights. There are two cross-axial stacks with gablets on the returns. The rear of the houses is similar in style and includes privies.
