Description
The fire station, built in 1902, was designed by William and Segar Owen. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features tiled roofs. The building has four bays, with later small extensions added to each end and to the rear. The two bays on the right are canted forward and include a loft. The left two bays have a flat-topped projection with a cornice and triple doors, each featuring small-paned glazing. The top panel is inscribed with "FIRE ENGINE STATION." The right two bays contain elliptical-headed windows with three-light transomed leaded casements. There are elliptical-headed entrances, one on the left with a plank door and the other a 20th-century door. The loft has a diapered pattern, and the left end features a loading door with a jettied shingled gable and a plank door with small-paned glazing. The roofs have two triangular louvres, and the right return has a loading door with a cat head.
