Description
The Bridge over the Dell is a Grade II listed structure, dated 1894 and designed by Douglas and Fordham. It is constructed from stone and features a saddle back design with a parabolic arch. The bridge has flanking buttresses topped with shaped gablets and a cornice above. The parapet includes coping with roll moulding. The arch is adorned with keystones that feature moulded masks; the keystone on the west side depicts a Jacobean man, while the one on the east side shows a Restoration man. Above the arch, there are two plaques: the eastern plaque bears the inscription "ERECTED/ANNO/DOMINI/MDCCCXCIV," and the western plaque features a sundial. At the ends of the parapet, there are canted projections that are panelled, with decorative heads at the angles and benches on the inner faces.
