Description
This is a terrace of three houses located at 142-146 New Chester Road, built in 1900 by Wilson and Talbot. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, featuring a timber-framed first floor and a tiled roof. They are two storeys high and consist of five bays. The first bay projects under a gable, while the other bays have a jettied first floor supported by Tuscan columns.
On the ground floor, there is a prominent 4-light double-chamfered-mullioned window with a drip mould, and the other bays feature 5-light bow windows, all adorned with leaded glazing. The first-floor windows are 3-light, with the second and fifth bays having gablets. The first bay showcases a 4-light canted oriel window beneath the jettied gable. The entrances are highlighted by decorated lintels and feature 4-panel doors with three leaded lights.
The houses have three cross-axial stacks and a lateral stack with diagonal flues to the right of the first bay. The returns include gableted windows and entrances that are sheltered by flat canopies. The rear of the houses is similar in style, with a plastered first floor, gables, dormers, and privies.
