Description
No. 55 Botanic Road is a house, probably built in the late 18th century, and has been altered since 1972. It is constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof and features a single-depth double-fronted plan with a lean-to extension added to the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a two-window range that is almost symmetrical. On the ground floor, there is a doorway offset to the right, which is now redundant, flanked by three-light fixed windows. These openings were originally segmental-headed but have been changed to square-headed. The first floor features three-light windows with top-hung casement openings in the centre lights; these windows were originally three-light sliding sashes. There is a ridge chimney in the centre and a gable chimney to the right.
The interior has not been inspected. This house forms a group with No. 53 and No. 57, which are adjacent to it on the left and right, respectively, and with Nos. 68-86 located opposite.
