Description

Lamp post located at the junction of Botanic Road and Cambridge Road in Southport, likely dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century and restored. It is made of cast iron and features a pedestal that is square at the base, tapering and chamfering to become octagonal at the top, with close horizontal ribbing. The slender octagonal shaft has a flared neck and an octagonal ring cap. It is supported by four curved brackets that hold a glazed square lantern topped with a swept roof and finial. This lamp post is one of a set of five similar lamp posts around the junction.
