Description

This is a lamp post located in front of numbers 96 and 98 on Botanic Road in Churchtown, Southport. It was likely made in the late 19th century or early 20th century and has been restored. The lamp post is made of cast iron and features a square base that tapers and chamfers to an octagonal top with close horizontal ribbing. It has a slender octagonal shaft with a flared neck and an octagonal ring cap. Four curved brackets support a glazed square lantern that has a swept roof and a finial. This lamp post is part of a set of five similar lamp posts situated around the junction of Botanic Road and Cambridge Road.
