Description

100 and 102 Botanic Road are two houses, or possibly a house with an attached stable or shippon, dating from the 18th century and altered over time. Number 100 is constructed of whitewashed handmade brick with a stone slate roof, while number 102 is made of brown brick in an irregular English garden wall bond, also with a slate roof. The buildings have a single-depth plan, with number 102 being a two-storey structure featuring a two-window range that is almost symmetrical. It has segmental-headed openings, with a doorway slightly off-set to the right that includes a four-panel door protected by a small 20th-century porch. The windows are 6/6 unhorned sashes with exposed boxes, and there are gable chimneys.

Number 100, which is attached to the right and is slightly lower, has a three-light small-paned sliding sash window on the ground floor and a square-headed doorway with a board door to the right. There is no opening on the first floor of the facade, but there is a three-light sliding sash attic window in the right-hand gable wall. The interior has not been inspected. These houses form a group with numbers 96 and 98 to the right and rear, and the entrance gates to Meols Hall to the left, with the Hesketh Arms opposite.
