Description

A pair of houses dating from the 18th century, located on King Street, Potton. The houses are colourwashed roughcast render, which appears to be over timber framing, with the left-hand gable finished in red brick laid in a chequered pattern with vitrified headers. The roof is covered in clay tiles. The houses have a 5-window front, arranged over two storeys and with attics. Number 20 has two 20th-century replacement windows to each of the ground and first floors. The attic has two box dormers, each containing a 2-light casement window. Number 22 has two tripartite sash windows to the ground and first floors, with a single sash window of standard proportions on the first floor, positioned between the tripartite sashes. All windows have glazing bars. The attic of number 22 also has two box dormers, each containing a 2-light horizontal sash window. Number 20 has a 20th-century door, while number 22 has a six-panel door topped with a rectangular fanlight. Both doors are set within moulded surrounds, each topped with a pediment hood supported by ornamental cut brackets. A wood modillion eaves cornice runs along the building. A red brick ridge stack rises from the centre of the roof, along with red brick integral stacks at each gable end. Number 20 is included on the listing for its group value with number 22.
