Description

Clayton’s Lindsay’s Bakery and adjacent house, located on Potton Market Square, dates from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick, with number 17 painted. It has a 20th-century tile roof. The facade is eight windows wide, and the building is two storeys high with attics. Number 16 features a 19th-century shop front with a window of three round-arched lights and a partly glazed door, set within pilastered surrounds and beneath a bracketed dentil cornice. Number 17 has a broader, 20th-century double shop front. The first floor contains two 19th-century mullion and transom windows, and six sash windows with wide, flush frames. The attic has three box dormers, each containing a two-light casement window. Brick ridge and integral stacks to both gable ends are present. The building is included on the list for its group value.
