Description
25 Market Square is a house that has had part of its ground floor converted into a shop. It likely dates back to the 17th century but was refronted in the 18th century with later modifications. The front elevation is finished in stucco, designed to resemble ashlar stone. The building features a clay tile roof and has a three-bay facade with two storeys and attics.
On the ground floor, there is a paired sash window on the left-hand side and a double-fronted shop front on the right-hand side. The first floor has three sash windows set in flush frames. The attic includes three box dormers, each containing two-light casements. The door located between the two left-hand bays is partially glazed and features leaded stained glass lights. It is framed by a pilastered doorcase topped with a dentilled cornice. Additionally, there is a wood dentil cornice along the eaves. The building has one red brick gable end stack and one red brick ridge stack.
