Description
Sun House is a house that was formerly known as the Sun Inn. It dates back to the 16th century and has undergone later alterations. The building features a timber-framed structure covered in colourwashed render, with some areas of closely studded framing visible on the cross-wing. The roof is made of clay tiles.
The house is two stories high and has a cross-wing on the right-hand side, with a projecting gable at the rear. The main block has two 2-light casement windows on each floor, with the ground floor windows flanking a doorway that has a panelled door and a bracketed pediment hood. To the left, there is a carriage entrance with timber doors that have elaborate openwork upper sections.
The right-hand gable jetties at the first floor level, supported by curved braces to the exposed framing. The ground floor features a canted bay window with 20th-century replacement casements, while the first floor has a sash window with glazing bars. There are two rebuilt brick chimney stacks, one located on the side elevation of the cross-wing and the other positioned midway up the roof slope of the main block.
