Description

This is a house, likely dating from the early 18th century, although largely rebuilt in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of white painted brick and has a thatched roof. The house has two unequal bays arranged on a north-south axis. The left (south) bay is square and two stories high, featuring a band and two tie-plates at first floor level. A doorway with a board door is positioned to the right, alongside a three-light sliding sash window on the ground floor, and a chimney is located at the north gable above the north bay. The right-hand (north) bay is smaller, single-story, and has a two-light casement window. The south gable wall of the south bay has a single three-light sliding sash window at first floor level. The rear (west) wall incorporates a small one-light window to the north bay, as well as three-light and two-light sliding sash windows within the south bay at ground floor level. The interior of the house was not inspected. It forms a group with the Churchtown Conservative Club to the northeast, approximately 5 meters away, and with numbers 187 and 189, Cambridge Road, to the northwest; together these contribute significantly to the centre of the village.
