Description
1A Rose Brow and Smithy Cottage is a house and shop built in the early 19th century, with the shop dating from around the 1860s. The building is constructed of stone and features a slate roof. The house is two storeys high with three bays, a cornice, small paned casements, and a gabled porch with the entrance located on the return side. The shop is made of rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and has a fishscale slate roof topped with tile cresting. It is one storey with an attic, featuring a canted corner bay, two bays to the left, and one bay to the right. The shop has a cornice similar to that of the house, and its windows consist of two lights with small-paned casements and a continuous label mould. The entrance is flanked by narrow lights and has panelled studded sliding doors, along with gabled roof dormers.
