Description

Soarer Cottages comprise four houses, dated 1896 and bearing the initials HWW, designed by R.T. Beckett. The houses are constructed of red brick with stone dressings and have red tile ridges. They are two storeys high and arranged in a four-bay layout, with projecting bays on either side of a small yard. A string course runs above the ground floor, and there are deep eaves with stone-coped gables. The windows feature chamfered mullions; the ground floor windows of the central bays are of two lights, with three-light windows above. The central entrances are paired and have shaped lintels displaying the date, now with 20th-century timber porches. The end bays have paired two-light ground floor windows and five-light first-floor windows. The returns of the houses have entrances with shaped lintels and a window to each floor. The doors have moulded vertical strips; those at numbers 2 and 4 include glass panels, while number 3 has a 20th-century door. Four tall chimney stacks are also present.
