Description

No. 8 Gateacre Brow is a house dated "IPS 1807" on the lintel. It is built of stone with a slate roof and has two storeys and two bays. The ground floor features a sill band, a top cornice, and projecting quoins. The first bay has a two-storey canted timber bay added in the late 19th century. The second bay has a tripartite window on the ground floor that is sashed and lacks glazing bars, while the first-floor window has a keyed lintel and is sashed with glazing bars. There is also a later ridge dormer. The return side has a top window with a rusticated wedge lintel that includes a key and the date. The entrance in the projecting bay features an architrave and a four-panel door. This building is listed for its group value only.
