Description
The Unitarian Chapel, built in 1700 and enlarged in 1719, is a stone structure topped with a slate roof. It features two bays, a cornice, and flush quoins. The windows are segmental-headed with keys, while the right side includes a Venetian window and original doors. The left side has a vestry added in 1875 and a round-headed window. The west end is adorned with an octagonal ogee-handed cupola that has round-headed openings with keys. The gables are coped and topped with ball finials. Inside, there is an 18th-century west gallery and a timber pulpit, along with 19th-century panelled pews and wainscoting. The roof was replaced in the 1950s, and the ceiling is made of tiles. There are wall memorials to J. Whittle (died 1702), W. Shepherd (died 1847), and T. Rodick (died 1855), as well as a chest dated 1707.
