Description

Number 80 is a house, likely built in the early to mid-18th century, featuring red brick with remnants of old whitewash and a stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan and stands two storeys high with a nearly symmetrical facade. It has gable chimneys and an entrance slightly offset to the right of centre, which includes a segmental-headed doorway with a board door. There are two tall segmental-headed windows on each floor, all fitted with cross-window casements that have glazing bars. The windows on the left side are set slightly higher than those on the right, and the upper windows have one pane less than the lower ones. A modern shop is attached at the right end of the building.

At the rear, there is a back door to the second bay and an altered window next to it, while the rest of the rear features segmental-headed windows, including a central mid-level stairlight similar to the front windows. The first-floor windows have altered glazing. The front garden, which forms an acute angle with Holly Lane on the left, is enclosed by a wall made of sandstone blocks with rounded coping, and it includes two round-topped stone gateposts aligned with the front door. The house is noted as a good example of its type and date, with apparently little alteration to its external appearance.
