Description
Number 9 is a house dating from the early 19th century, with an older core. It is timber-framed and encased in white brick, topped with a fully-hipped slate roof that features a wooden modillion eaves cornice. There is a rendered wing at the rear.
The house has two storeys and a cellar, situated on a corner site. The front has three windows: the first storey features 16-pane sashes in flush cased frames with flat gauged arches, while the ground storey has sashes with a single vertical glazing-bar in similar surrounds. A wide central semicircular brick doorway is flanked by a recessed wooden doorcase with plain pilasters and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. The door itself has six raised fielded panels. Notably, there are unusual stone recesses for footscrapers on each side of the doorway.
The side facing Honey Hill has one sash window on each storey, matching the style of the front, while the slightly lower rear wing contains four 16-pane sash windows on each storey. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the wall at the east end of the rear wing is a worn stepped stone mounting block.
