Description
34 and 35 Crown Street is a house from the 18th century that was divided and refronted in the early 19th century. It has a timber frame and roughcast exterior, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with attics.
No. 34 features one tripartite sash window on each floor, with the central window having 12 panes in a flush cased frame. There is a segmental-headed dormer above, which contains a small-paned two-light window. The entrance door, accessed by one step, has six raised fielded panels and a rectangular fanlight with lozenge-shaped glazing bars, framed by a plain wooden surround with a flat pediment above.
No. 35 has two sash windows on the upper storey; one is narrow with eight panes, and the other has twelve panes, both in flush cased frames. The ground storey has a similar 12-pane sash window. The entrance door, also up one step and featuring curved cast-iron handrails, has six raised fielded panels and a wooden doorcase with plain reveals and a flat pediment.
Access to the interior of No. 34 is not possible, while No. 35 has a restored interior with no original features exposed.
