Description
This building is a barn located approximately 15 meters west of Ottershead Farmhouse, likely dating from the mid-18th century and altered over time. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond (4+1) on a sandstone plinth, featuring sandstone dressings and a composition tile roof. The barn has a rectangular six-bay plan, with the sixth bay partitioned from the main range, which may have been a former stable.
Notable architectural features include rusticated quoins, a waggon entrance in the third bay with a shallow splayed porch under a carried-down roof to the left, an inserted or altered doorway in the first bay, and an altered square loading door or loft window in the second bay. To the right, there are doorways to each of the other three bays, all with stone surrounds and lintels that have raised pseudo-voussoirs and keystones. Above these doors, there are two square loading doors, with the second featuring an external shutter and four-pane glazing.
There are later additions at both ends of the barn, and the rear is covered by large 20th-century sheds. The barn forms a group with Ottershead Farmhouse located approximately 15 meters to the east.
