Description

Brighouse Green Farmhouse, now a house, was built in 1768, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed of handmade red brick in an English garden wall bond pattern, with sandstone dressings and a stone slate roof. The farmhouse has a double-depth plan and originally had three windows, though these have been altered. It features sandstone quoins and dressings, and a gabled porch at the junction of the first and second bays, incorporating a round-headed archway. The windows are casements, originally with raised sills and rectangular lintels, but now have 20th-century slender glazing bars and double glazing. A shaped datestone above the porch is lettered "B. W I. 1768." Ridge and gable chimneys are present, with the ridge chimney panelled. The left gable wall has been rendered, and includes a gabled porch over a blocked doorway, with another blocked doorway positioned above it.
