Description

Stand Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse, possibly incorporating earlier elements. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern on a sandstone plinth, with a hipped stone slate roof. The house is arranged in an L-shape, comprising a double-depth front block and a rear wing.

The symmetrical front facade has two storeys and three windows. It features a high, chamfered stone plinth, a large square-headed doorway with a plain surround and a restored panelled door with a 10-pane overlight. Restored sash windows with 16 panes (now double-glazed) are present; those on the ground floor have flat brick arches, while those on the first floor have segmental brick arches. A 20th-century moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. Chimneys are situated on the side ridges. The sides and rear of the house are similarly constructed.

The interior is believed to contain a wide oak staircase extending up to the roof level, along with good oak beams and some original floors.
