Entrance lodge to Lathom Park, with attached screen wall and gate pier. c.1730, altered. By Giacomo Leoni. Sandstone ashlar and coursed squared sandstone, slate roof. Gate pier adjacent to drive, with concave quadrant walls to front and rear, lodge attached to the latter. The lodge is octagonal in plan, 2 storeys, with a plinth, rusticated ground floor, 1st-floor band and altered eaves; a square-headed doorway in the south side, with Gibbs surround and altered door; tall windows at ground floor with altered glazing (18-pane top-hung casements), and square 9-pane windows at 1st floor. Chimney and small C20 extension to rear. The high screen walls are ramped up at the south end to meet the gate pier, which has pilasters with emphatic frost-worked bands, a pediment, and a round-headed niche with a keystone. Forms group with Lathom Lodge (q.v.).
