Description
The Croppers is a farmhouse located in Lathom, likely dating from the earlier part of the 18th century. It has been extended and altered over time. The building is constructed of handmade red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a stone slate roof. It has a two-unit transitional double-depth plan with a shallow stair-turret at the rear and extensions on the left side.
The farmhouse stands two storeys high with an attic and has two windows on the front. It includes a rendered stone plinth and a two-course band above the ground floor. The tall casement windows on both floors consist of three lights at the ground floor and two lights above, all with small panes, raised sills, and narrow rectangular lintels. There are gable chimneys, and the left gable displays water tabling at the first floor, indicating the steeply-pitched roof of a former extension. The current extension is single-storey and features one three-light casement window similar to those on the main part of the house. The rear of the building includes a shallow gabled stair-turret positioned centrally.
Inside, the main range consists of two rooms on the ground floor, with a passage leading to the rear, and features two contemporary beams.
