Description
Watkinson's Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that has been altered over time. It is constructed of handmade red brick in English garden wall bond, featuring a sandstone plinth and a stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan with a projected porch and an added rear wing.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical facade with three windows on each floor. The two-storey gabled porch is slightly offset to the right and includes a round-headed doorway with a recessed 20th-century door, as well as a 2-light casement window above it, which has a raised sill and a run-out rectangular lintel. The ground floor features enlarged 4-light casement windows, while the first floor has early 19th-century 3-light casements, all with raised sills and run-out lintels that match the porch window. The building also has extruded gable chimneys.
On the left gable wall, there is a 20th-century conservatory, and the rear of the farmhouse has coupled 19th-century windows. Inside, the right-hand front room contains two large chamfered beams. The farmhouse forms a group with a barn located approximately 20 meters to the northeast and with the Old Post Office further to the northeast.
