Description
This is a barn with an integral stable, now used as a workshop, located approximately 5 metres south-west of Number 192 on Ormskirk Road in Up Holland. It was likely built in the early to mid-19th century and has been altered since then. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone and features a felted stone slate roof. It has a four-bay plan oriented on a north-south axis, with a rear outshut for the stable at the north end and a lean-to addition at the south end. There are slit breathers on two levels, except for the stable area. The second bay has a waggon entrance with a 20th-century sliding door, while the fourth bay features a garage doorway with a wooden lintel and double board doors. The north gable wall includes a ground floor doorway, a loading door above it, and a stable door leading to the outshut. The rear has various additions. Inside, there is a stone partition wall separating the stable, and the roof is supported by bolted king post trusses.
