Description

Orchard Cottage is a house dated 1692, which is indicated by the datestone above the old doorway in the first bay. The exterior is white-painted roughcast, likely over sandstone rubble, and it has a stone slate roof with a chimney at the left gable and another on the ridge where the second and third bays meet. The building has a three-bay plan and is two storeys high.

The first bay features an old doorway with the datestone above, while the second bay has a modern stone porch. There are three windows on the ground floor and four on the upper floor, all with glazing bars. Most of the windows are deeply recessed with chamfered jambs, and some have chamfered heads. In the first bay, there is a square top-hung casement and a two-light window above with a chamfered mullion. The second bay contains a horizontal rectangular window with two square lights and a rectangular mullion, along with two square windows above. The third bay has two lights on each floor, both with chamfered mullions, with the upper window being smaller.
