Description

This is a house, dated 1748, and altered subsequently. It is built of coursed, thin sandstone rubble, with a stone slate roof and two ridge chimneys.

The house is L-shaped, comprising a double-depth, three-bay main section and a separately-roofed, one-bay wing located in front of the first bay. The main house is two storeys high, while the wing is lower. The building’s rear faces the road. The present entrance is through a doorway in the left gable wall. The front, facing the garden, has a plain doorway in the second bay, a triple-paned window to the left, and a similar double-paned window to the right, all with glazing bars forming four panes each. The first floor has two windows over the second bay and one over the third bay. A datestone inscribed “ES S 1748” is built into the garden wall below the steps leading to the front door.

The interior features chamfered beams, fielded panel doors, and two matching window seats, which appear to be original. The front service wing contains a first-floor kitchen with a large, rectangular stone fireplace.
