Description

A pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century, located on Market Street in Whitworth. They are built of watershot coursed sandstone rubble, with No. 514 having a colour-washed finish, and have a felted stone slate roof with ridge chimneys at the left junctions. Each cottage has a double-depth plan and is one bay wide, two storeys high. The right-hand cottage has a plain surround to its doorway, while both cottages feature a stepped triple-light window on each floor. The rear elevation displays back doors and windows on both floors; one window has a square mullion. On the first floor of No. 512, a doorway is blocked above the flat roof of a small outbuilding.
