Description
Moor House Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century, is constructed of squared rubble with sandstone dressings and features a slate roof. The building has a double-pile plan and gabled chimneys, presenting a symmetrical facade of two storeys and three bays, with projecting quoins. The outer bays contain tripartite windows with plain stone surrounds and square mullions; the outer lights are fixed with glazing bars, while the inner lights are sashed with glazing bars on the ground floor and sashed on the first floor. The central window on the first floor is blank, featuring imitation glazing bars. The central doorway is framed by a solid stone porch with a moulded pediment. At the rear, the two outer bays have two-light windows with plain stone surrounds and square mullions, and between them is a stair window with a plain stone surround and a semi-circular head with a keystone. To the right of this window is a chamfered doorway with a triangular head, likely from the 17th century and re-used, now covered by a glazed porch. Adjoining the farmhouse to the west is an orchard wall made of watershot limestone with sandstone dressings, featuring a flat coping, a door on the east with a plain stone surround, and four shallow recesses on the south side. Each recess has a semi-circular arch with a keystone and tooled voussoirs.
