Description
Moor House Farmhouse and the adjoining barn were built in 1709, with some alterations to the windows made in the mid to late 18th century and the east side rebuilt in 1890. The farmhouse features a two-storey south front and side made of sandstone "brick," while the rear wing and outshuts are constructed of earlier gritstone with large quoins. It has a stone slate roof with corniced chimneys and four light square mullion windows. There is a blocked chamfered mullion window at the rear and a gabled pitch with a reset date stone on the rebuilt east side from 1890. The barn is located on the west side of the house and shares the same construction style, although it was extended in the 19th century. It is built of dry-walled gritstone and has a stone slate roof. The original part of the barn features an aisle and three braced king post trusses. Although the aisle has been bricked off, it still retains aisle posts with bracing to the tie beams.
