Description

Number 8 Blackburn Road is a house, likely built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from squared watershot sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and consists of three bays. The windows are designed with an outer chamfer and inner cyma moulding, incorporating mullions and transoms. The ground-floor windows have six lights, while the first-floor windows are cross windows. The entrance door is framed by a shouldered architrave. A brick chimney is located at the right-hand end of the house.

On the rear wall, there are two ground-floor 2-light rebated and chamfered mullioned windows, along with a double-chamfered cross window that provides light to the stairwell. Inside, the ground floor includes two doors with raised and fielded panels, and there is a moulded shouldered fireplace from the 18th century in the left-hand front room. The dog-leg staircase leads up to the attic, featuring four flights, square moulded newels, and turned balusters. The roof principals have curved feet, and there is a stepped 3-light chamfered mullioned window in the east attic wall, which is currently blocked by the adjoining house.
