Description

This is a pair of houses located on Church Street, built in 1745. The houses are constructed of brick with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. They are two storeys high and feature a stone plinth, string course, chamfered quoins, and a moulded cornice gutter. No. 29, on the right-hand side, has three bays with a central doorway, while No. 28, on the left, has one bay with the door to the right. The ground floor windows have architraves with raised and fielded panels carved on their aprons; the windows of No. 29 are sash windows with glazing bars, while those of No. 28 are modern replacements. Both doorways have architraves and cornices, and the doorway of No. 29 has a raised and fielded panel carved on its frieze. The right-hand gable has a stone chimney cap, and the left-hand gable has a more recent replacement. A brick cap is situated between the two houses, set forward of the ridge. Lead downspouts are positioned at each end of the façade, and each hopper is cast with the inscription 'EEI 1745'.
