Description
Number 4 is a house that likely dates from the 18th century and was remodeled in the 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a stone slate roof that is laid in diminishing courses. The house features stone bases for the stacks at both ends and stone copings. The building has a three-unit plan, stands two storeys plus an attic, and has a four-window range.
The entrance is off-centre to the left and includes a four-panelled door, side windows, a fanlight, and a pediment supported by consoles. To the left of the entrance is a Venetian window with a keystoned head, and there are two similar windows to the right. The first floor has four similar windows, and there are four gabled roof dormers. A flat band runs between the ground floor and the first floor, and there is a moulded, chamfered eaves cornice below the stone parapet.
In front of the house, there are steps, railings, and a stone plinth. To the left, a wall made of squared blocks of ironstone has a stone coping that sweeps up. There is a square ironstone pier, and the wall also incorporates a six-panelled door with a moulded wood surround.
