Description

Southfield Fold Farmhouse and the adjoining cottage date from the early to late 17th century. The building is constructed from rubble stone and features a slate roof. It has an L-shaped main range with a cross wing and stone coping that originally supported balls and finials on the left gable. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with stacks that are likely original.

The ground floor has a gable front with a 6-light stone mullion window, which includes a dripstone, and a recent porch added in 1983 to the right. On the first floor, there is a 5-light window with a dripstone, where the central three lights rise into an ogee head. The main front's ground floor includes a plain doorway, a 3-light window with the centre mullions removed, a single-light window with all mullions lost, and a single-light Tudor head window where the mullion has been removed, likely indicating a former doorway. Above, there are a 5-light and a 3-light window, both missing centre mullions, with a later single-light window situated between them.

Inside, the farmhouse features a cellar with a vaulted roof. One of the bedrooms contains plaster cast in the wall bearing a pious inscription.
