Description
Arnolds Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th to 18th century and was extended in the early 20th century. It is constructed from rubble stone with stone slate roofs and features two storeys and one and a half storeys. The principal front faces east and is made of squared rubble with ashlar dressings beneath a hipped roof. The right side of the building was constructed around 1700, while the left side was built to match around 1920. It has stone cyma-moulded cross windows, flush quoins, and a dripcourse above the ground floor.
The original section has two upper windows, with the right window having a dripcourse that extends around from the north end, and three lower windows. The matching addition has a two-window range, an eaves stack, and one dormer. The original two-window north front features a west stack and dripcourses over both floors. At the back, facing west, there is a cottage range that appears to be from the 17th century but has 18th-century cyma-moulded flush mullion windows. This includes two 2-light windows in dormer gables above and a 3-light and a 2-light window below, all with dripstones. There is a central door and a window to the right, both set in a stone slate open porch, and a blocked door in the north end wall. The north end has a stack.
Adjoining to the right is a 19th-century two-storey range made of squared rubble stone, featuring 16-pane sash windows on each floor and a door to the right. The east range contains the original oak staircase, which has a closed string, flat balusters, and a moulded rail.
