SD32NE FAIRLAWN ROAD, Lytham 621-1/3/60 (West side) 13/01/71 S boundary wall to Fairlawn (not included) & its W contin. to Fosbrooke House

GV II

Formerly known as: Garden wall S & E sides of Fairlawn garden (& small portion N side)..iron gates CLIFTON DRIVE. Wall forming boundary between various private gardens and public footpath along beach, with return along east side of Fairlawn. Mid to later C19 (one gateway dated 1860); altered. Coursed cobblestone (the western half now mostly slobbered) with lacings of handmade brick and copings of sandstone. The wall extends for approx. 330 metres from Fairlawn Road to the junction with the garden wall of Fosbrooke House. Approx. 2 metres high, tending to diminish towards the east, with a one-course brick band at approx. half height, brick lozenges below this, and widely-spaced brick strips above (except in the eastern half). Various gateways, two in Tudor-arched style with gabled parapets and the others altered. Forms group with summerhouse in south-west corner of garden Fairlawn (q.v.) which interrupts it.
