Description

Seafield is a villa, dating from circa 1860, and later converted into flats. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings, and has a hipped slate roof. The building follows a double-depth plan, with a rear extension. It is designed in an Italianate style.

The villa has two storeys over a basement and features a symmetrical facade with 2:3:2 window bays. A plinth and quoined corner pilasters are visible, along with sillbands to both floors and bracketed eaves. The central section is slightly set back. A double flight of steps (modernised) leads to a segmental-headed doorway that is flanked by tall segmental-headed windows. All of these windows have shouldered architraves, keystones, and are set within a channelled ashlar surround featuring a pulvinated frieze and modillioned cornice. All other windows are also segmental-headed with shouldered architraves; the ground floor windows have altered glazing, while the upper floor windows retain their original four-pane sashes. Single-storey, one-bay wings, mirroring the style of the main building, are attached to each end of the villa.

The interior includes an entrance hall containing an open-well staircase with cast-iron balusters. The remainder of the interior was not inspected.
