Description
The War Memorial, located in front of the Victory/Parish Hall, is a First World War memorial that was unveiled on Armistice Day in 1922. The architect is unknown, and it is constructed of sandstone.
The memorial features a square base made of stone flagstones and is aligned with the Victory Hall behind it. It has a two-stepped base that supports a square plinth, which holds a tapering shaft topped with a calvary cross. On the south face of the plinth, there is a carved inscription that reads: "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY / OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 + 1918 / FOR THEIR SAKES I CONSECRATE MYSELF." The other three sides of the plinth are engraved with the names of 47 men who served.
