Description
The Vicarage, built around 1830-1840 and altered since, is a red brick building in Flemish bond with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It has a square plan and features a mixed architectural style with some Jacobean elements. The structure is two storeys high and consists of three bays across and three bays down, with two small gables on each side. The facade is symmetrical, with the center slightly set back between the gabled bays. It has a stone plinth and a central doorway framed by a triangular-headed stone surround, which includes the door and side windows that are likely from the 20th century. Above the doorway is a small stone lozenge, and there is a single-light window on the first floor. The flanking bays have large vertical-rectangular windows on both floors, featuring raised sills, rectangular stone lintels, and cross-window glazing, also probably from the 20th century. The gables are steeply pitched and adorned with wooden finials and ridged coping that steps down to form a parapet around the building. The south side, facing the garden, is styled similarly but includes a stone canted bay window in the third bay. There are two chimney stacks topped with pairs of Tudor-style octagonal chimney pots that have decorative strap-work and embattled caps. The interior has not been inspected.
