Description
The estate boundary wall to the south and west of Lytham Hall, with a gateway at Hey Houses, is part of the Lytham Hall estate. It was likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century and has been altered, with some sections recently demolished. The wall is constructed of cobblestones and features a rendered capping. It follows a gently curved line that is approximately 1.2 miles long, extending from the west side of Church Lodge westwards and northwards to Hey Houses. The wall is about 2 meters high, except where it has been altered or reduced. At the northern end, the wall terminates at a former gateway, which includes a set of four gate piers at Hey Houses. The gate piers are square, with the inner pair being taller than the outer pair. They are made of rusticated sandstone and feature pebble panels, moulded cornices, and shallow pyramidal caps, along with a pair of cast-iron gates. This structure is typical of local craftsmanship and is located near similar work at Church Lodge.
