GV II

Public road bridge over Leeds-Liverpool Canal. c1796, widened in mid C19. Coursed squared sandstone. Semi-elliptical arch with rusticated voussoirs, plain band, parapet with flat coping (that on south-east side replaced by cast-iron footway); oval number plate on north-west side. Soffit has 2 lateral joints, the central section between them roofed with cast-iron plates. Forms important element of group at this site, with No.85 (Wharfmaster's House) adjoining north-west corner (qv) and with 3 warehouses beyond this (qv).
