Description

Martin Lane Bridge is a public road bridge that crosses the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. It was likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, possibly replacing an earlier swing bridge. The bridge is constructed mainly of large squared sandstone blocks, featuring a parapet made of coursed squared rubble. It has a semi-elliptical arch with plain voussoirs, four circular tie-plates positioned above the arch, a plain band, pilaster terminals, and parapets topped with flat coping.
